According to the Public Relations Office of the RWT, with the participation of Mr. Sedighi (CEO), Mr. Partovizad (Director of International Relations), and Mr. Atabaki (Executive Director of International Transport), the opening ceremony of the international conference and exhibition “International Transport Corridors: Interconnection and Development 2025” was held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. This event opens new horizons for regional and international cooperation and for the development of trade in key strategic sectors.

Representatives of more than 80 reputable companies from Iran, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, the United Kingdom, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Germany, Finland, France, Russia, China, Switzerland, and Japan attended the conference and exhibition. The event was also attended by the Speaker of Parliament, deputy heads of government, heads and representatives of ministries and sectoral agencies, diplomatic delegations, prominent international organizations, government institutions, higher education institutions of Turkmenistan, and mass media representatives.

At the beginning of the ceremony, a welcoming message from Serdar Berdimuhamedow, President of Turkmenistan, addressed to the participants of the 18th International Conference and Exhibition “International Transport and Transit Corridors: Connectivity and Development – 2025” was read aloud. Following the ceremony, guests visited the joint exhibition, where participants showcased their latest achievements.

On the second day of the conference, representatives of Turkmenistan, as well as the heads of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the Coordinating Council on Trans-Eurasian Transportation (CCTT), the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RCC), and the UNDP office in Turkmenistan delivered speeches.

In 2023, upon the proposal of Turkmenistan and with the strong support of United Nations member states, November 26 of each year was declared “World Sustainable Transport Day.” In his speech at the anniversary session of the United Nations General Assembly held in September this year, the President of Turkmenistan proposed the UN Declaration on Sustainable Transport for 2026–2035. This initiative will strengthen international efforts to develop transport corridors, enhance their stability, and preserve accessibility for all countries.
