A specialized meeting on the development of rail transportation at Amirabad Port was held.
According to the Public Relations Department of the RWT Company, on Wednesday, Mehr 30 1404 (22.10.2025), the “Specialized Meeting on the Development of Rail Transportation at Amirabad Port” was held with the participation of Mr. Rahman Masoumi (Director General of the Northern Railway Region), Mohammad Ali Mousapour Gorji (Director General of Amirabad Ports and Maritime Administration), Seyed Valizadeh and Ghadami (representatives of the RWT Company), representatives of the Mazandaran Provincial Customs Administration, a number of cargo owners, private sector activists, and representatives of rail transport companies.

The meeting was organized with the aim of developing inter-organizational cooperation and increasing interaction among port authorities, customs organizations, and cargo owners, as well as examining capacities, challenges, and solutions for increasing the share of rail transportation in the country’s northern ports. Discussions and exchanges of views focused on the following topics:
· Reviewing the speed and quality of railway commercial services: participants emphasized the need to improve commercial processes and ensure faster coordination among operational units in order to reduce cargo waiting times at entry and exit points.
· Operational tariffs: proposals were presented regarding the revision of operational tariffs and the introduction of more flexible rail freight rates in order to enhance competitiveness with the road transport sector.
· Attracting rail cargo and increasing the rail share in freight transportation: solutions were discussed to encourage cargo owners to use the rail network, including incentive discounts and combined rail-road services.
· Accelerating operational processes (loading and unloading): closer coordination between port operators and the railway sector to reduce wagon idle time and increase the speed of loading and unloading operations was identified as one of the key topics of the meeting.
· Comparison of rail and road transportation rates: following a review of the current freight market conditions, it was agreed that competitive pricing policies and incentive measures should be developed to encourage greater use of rail transport by cargo owners.
· Logistics investments: joint investment in the construction and development of warehouses, logistics areas, and rail loading and unloading equipment at Amirabad Port was also among the important issues discussed.
